PROTECTION OF NATURE IN HIGH SCHOOL NATURAL SCIENCES EDUCATION

At present, protection of nature and caring for the countryside are politically accepted goals. Opposing the idea, there is a too small influence of concrete subject matter and personal heritage. What is needed for using the accepted position of the protection of nature and caring for the countryside are the universally educated and highly qualified specialists. The protection of nature has become a largely applied discipline of biology with extensive tasks, therefore the specialists must be recruited from among the biology experts, though the biology may be influencing the study of the protection of nature but a little. The fact is proved and discussed in the paper with a number of examples found in practice at the University in Osnabrück. A better alternative appears to be the foundation of the „Department for the protection of nature“ within the study of biology. Some German universities have already done that, but the University in Marburg has gone even farther - since 1991, at the department, you can graduate in the protection of nature as well as in other 4 fields.
