Sažetak

The industrial society conceives nature as a human resource, while all negative consequences of its use can be successfully controlled and resolved. Nature is an object that serves to man's self–realization. Such an attitude is problematic for the development of civilization. In opposition to that utilitarian approach, new concepts of the deeper understanding of man's relationship to nature and various ethical conceptions come into existance.
Within the framework of postmodern ecological and religious movements came into existance also ecosophy – the reconstruction of the forgotten Earth's wisdom. A respectful ecosophical position has been formed by Arne Naess as a personal understanding of the relationship between man and nature – the so–called “ecosophy T”, the philosophy of the ecological balance. Naess is the founder of the deep ecology movement, and the “ecosophy T” is his personal contribution both to the deep ecology movement and to the discourse of ecological ethics and the new ecophilosophical concept of the relationship between culture and nature. Naess represents the position of the deep ecology which stands for a radical change of consiousness and aims at changing personal behaviour and social action. It has been crititzed for direct holism and conservativism.
The paper presents some conceptual features of Naess's “ecosophy T” within the framework of deep ecology and deep ecology movement. Its contribution to a new understanding of the relationship between man and nature is also presented, as well as the basic features of the deep ecology (biospherical egalitarism and self–realization) and its criticism.
