VILLAGE AND TOWN AREAS AS SOCIOLOGICAL AND CULTURAL FRAMEWORKS OF THE IDEA OF A PARISH

Sažetak
Demographic and migrational changes, the development of computer science technology, secularization and atheistical trends are some of the numerous social processes that have influenced rural and urban areas differently. This differentiality of influence is manifested especially through the different relation of rural and town population towards traditional values of the society. Among the traditional values of the region we can include confessionality and the relation to the church as an institution. On the example of the relation to a parish, as the lowest organizational level of church institutionality, we have tried to learn about the village and town congregation population attitudes and to see if they fit the proposed concepts.
The first concept — a parish as a community of belief, devotions and love — can be observed more within town population, while the other concept — a parish as a territorial unit of the Church, and its basic interests are connected with material values — can be observed more within rural population. The foundation of this inclination towards different ideas of the concepts of the parish community within rural and town population can be found within the uneven influence of the above mentioned social processes in rural and town areas.
