Sažetak

For Poly(vinyl chloride) a statement is valid: it is a material of tempestuous past (with ups and downs during PVC development) and environmental excellence. PVC is one of the most thoroughly investigated materials of modern material culture. All the indicators show that it is a material that completely meets sustainable development criteria, that have been agreed upon at the Rio de Janeiro conference in 1992. Thereby, only environmentalists have doubts about PVC — is it a material that brings about environmental catastrophe, or a material of the future? Author's conclusion that PVC is a material of the future is based upon a series of data on PVC.
