Sažetak
An efficient firefighting organizational system, besides its inherent need for detailed knowledge of the geographic area, requires an ever increasing fund of experience and technical know-how on firefighting procedures and techniques. This article considers the possibilities of implementation of the Geographical Information System (GIS) into the existing professional firefighting procedures and practices. A detailed overview of possible implementation of GIS methods in regards to the optimization of preventative firefighting measures and operative procedures is provided. This work is based on the analyses and interpretation of a multitude international articles and firefighting systems which have already implemented GIS methods. The article contains a brief overview of the possibilities of the program, an explanation of the tools and extensions with the examples of output data. Project “Adria Holistic” is presented within which CFA produces module AdraFireGPS. In conclusion, cartographic representations have been created to effectuate the visualization of the GIS implementation.
