NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS AS THE HOLDER OF THE SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN CROATIA

Sažetak
This paper elaborates „Non-profit organizations as the holder of the social entrepreneurship development“. It shows place and meaning of social entrepreneurship in contemporary economic trends. The purpose of this work is to highlight domain of social entrepreneurship and to indicate importance of social entrepreneurship for society. It also explains categories such as social entrepreneur, social enterprises, social economy and social capital. Also this paper attempts to verify existence of strategic orientation in Croatian non profit sector in the sense of innovation, proactivity and risk appetite. The paper used methods of analysis and synthesis as well as survey data collection methods. The population consists of non-profit organizations which are important entities of non-profit sector in Croatia. The data required for this study were obtained from a questionnaire which was randomly sent to the e-mail addresses of hundred Croatian non-profit organisations. Fifteen nonprofit organisation have returned the completed questionnaire which represents a fifteen percent response rate. After analysis of received data, initial hypotheses were rejected, due to lack of data. In conclusion, there is no strategic orientation on social entrepreneurship in Croatia, both at the macro and micro level. We can conclude that social entrepreneurship in Croatia is still in the development phase and it therefore has great potential for future action in this sphere of entrepreneurship.
