Sažetak

This paper has examined the influence of some demographic factors (gender, age, location, extra-curricular singing activities) on the vocal range development in children of early school age. In the process of researching, the vocal range measurement is made with 184 children in the first, second and third grades in elementary schools: „Spinut“ in Split, „Komiža“ in Komiža on island Vis and „Petar Hektorović“ in Stari Grad on island Hvar. The results confirm that location has no impact on children's vocal range, but the rest of the factors have. Namely, it is confirmed that girls have wider vocal range than boys do and also children who attend extra-curricular singing activities have wider vocal range than children who do not. Finally, the results confirm that age influences the vocal range developement, so it can be said that the third graders on average have much wider vocal range compared to the first graders.
