The Effect of Agar Concentration on the Growth of Cotyledon Tissue of Pumpkin in vitro

Sažetak
Tissue fragments of cotyledons of pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo L.) were cultivated on Heller’s nutrient medium — in artificial light (485 ± 45 lux) as well as in darkness — and the effect of the agar concentration (0%, 0,5%, l'°/o, and 1,3%) on their growth rate was investigated.
Both in light and darkness the highest increase of fresh and dry weight of the tissue fragments has been obtained with 0,5% agar concentration, the growth rate being iin light always much bigger than in darkness.
