Photodynamic action of some optical bleaching agents

Sažetak

The photodynamic action of the optical bleaching agents Leukophor BS, Leukophor RG and Uvitex RT was investigated. Leukophor BS exerted the most potent photodynamic action by killing all paramecia exposed to light in five minutes. Administered intraperitoneally it produced more frequent and more serious skin lesions in mice exposed to light than in those held in the dark. After topical application pathological changes of the skin were observed only in mice irradiated with light. The other two investigated substances were less toxic and their photodynamic action was also weaker.
