Sažetak

The purpose of this paper is to establish if teaching agents and equipment are necessary in music education. While “vocal apparatus“ which we have as a bodily feature is sufficient for the production of vocal music, instrumental music can not be produced without an aid, an instrument. Music can be produced and played on the computer, but since computer generated music requires music and IT skills and does not require one of playing, it is still not considered a real musical instrument. Aids are also needed to make note or sound recordings of music as well as to teach aesthetic music education, in which case electrophonic devices are very useful. Unlike teaching equipment, teaching agents are didactically shaped and are usually found in a form of a coursebook, in more recent time accompanied by computer software. Due to its possibility to provide feedback, a computer can be helpful in practising music literacy and accuracy in singing and playing. Nevertheless, we should strive to learn about music in its original form, using pieces of music which have not (didactically) been altered or adjusted for musical education, which is made possible by using electrophonic devices. In learning musical art, teaching equipment is necessary, whereas in the subject of teaching agents only computer software may bear certain pedagogic justification.
