Sažetak

Genetic changes of fattening properties were analyzed: daily gain, food consumption and the thickness of side bacon of 10,416 boars of LW, SL, BL and D breed tested at 19 stations for direct testing in the period from 1980 to 1988. The changes found in the period of testing varied in the starting value which showed inadequacy of the method and way of testing. Inadequate intensity of selection, generation interval, identical selection criteria for all breeds, selection criterion made at the farm and not for the whole population may be the main reasons for the inefficacy of the existing method of boar selection.
