HYGIENIC ASPECTS OF THE HOUSING OF CATTLE ON INDIVIDUAL FARMS TN THE REGION OF THE MILD CONTINENTAL CLIMATE OF NORTH-WESTERN CROATIA 3. Classic Shed for Dairy Cows

Sažetak
A shed unid for 20 heads of stock in a tying system, in a double row, 10 heads in each row, on a short, thermoinsulated bed on a slatted floor. Foundations are made of insulated concrete. A slurry canal behind the bed is 80 cm deep and has a width of 80 cm with a draining canal in the opposite direction of the slurry ditch.
Walls are made of concrete blocks with a thermoinsulated coat and cement mortar. Double glazed windows face each other along the walls occupying 1/15 of the floor surface. The layer with a gradient of 2% has thermoinsulated granulates or rubber boards of aproximately h 0.8 W m² K. The minimal suface area of the floor. viz. volume, including the layer and the passage is 6.5 m² and 19.0 m³ for each head. According to DIN rates No. 18910 (1974) optimal air temperature is between 7° and 18°C with relative humidity beng 70%. The peak concentration allowed of CO₂ amounts to 0.35 vol%, NH₃ to 0.005 vol% with protective threshold of 0.01 vol% and H₂S to 0.001 vol%. Gravitational ventilation is maintained by opening windows and lateral entrance doors when necessary. Ventilation volume is adjusted to approximately 1.0 m³ h⁻¹ kg⁻¹ in summer, and to 0.3 m³ h⁻¹ kg⁻¹ in winter with air circulation in biozone up to 0.5 ms⁻¹. In the proposed type of shed the incidence of teets and hoofs diseases is expected to be reduced thus ensuring better reproduction and higher milk yield. Enclosure: drawings of the proposed shed.
