INDUCTION AND SINCHRONISATION OF OESTRUS AND ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION OF CROSS-BRED DAIRY SHEEP JUST BEFORE THE BREEDING SEASON USING CHRONO-GEST PESSARIES AND PMSG

Sažetak
lntending to improve the cross-bred sheep "lstarska Pramenka" methods of induction and synchronisation of oestrus and artificial insemination were used. A flock of 271 ewes and 196 ewe-hogget was available for the treatment with Chrono-gest impregnated pessaries and PMSG. The PMSG was applied twice. First it on the day when pessaries were withdrawn, and the second time 15 days after the first application. The second dose of PMSG consisted of only half of the quantity of the first dose. Signs of oestrus were discovered by intravaginal observation 48 hours after the pessary withdrawal. All treated animals showed the signs of oestrus. After two oestruses a conception rate in ewes was 81 .91%, and 68.36% in ewe-hoggets. Index of lambing was 1.33.
