Sažetak

Monoculture and narrow crop rotation as the dominant vegetable growing method in protected spaces have an expressed accumulation of pests in the soil as the consequence. They can jeopardize the continuation of production and significantly increase the needs for applying herbicides in their suppression. The problems caused by cultivation in a narrow crop rotation are possible to be avoided by using a hydroponic cultivation method, which is economically justified in a larger production, whereas the problems of a narrow crop rotation on smaller areas can be avoided by cultivating certain vegetable species by planting grafted seedlings. Except for the more significant tolerance toward the diseases and pests which are transmitted by soil, grafted plants give a bigger and early total yield as a rule because of a bigger lushness of grafted plant’s media. In the goal of determining compatibility between individual media and the most frequently cultivated tomato hybrids in protected spaces, as well as estimating plant productivity and the yield of tomato cultivated from grafted seedlings during the year of 2009 in College of Agriculture in Križevci, researches were conducted and their preliminary results were processed in this paper.
