Sažetak

Buža is the local name for a number of morphologically different phenotypes of olive (Olea europaea L.) in Istria. This name is commonly encountered in southern Istria (today’s municipalities of Vodnjan and Bale) and a little less in northern Istria (Bujština). Researches included four phenotypes (Buža vodnjanska ženska, Buža vodnjanska muška, Buža puntoža, Buža minuda) in Bale municipality. A comparative study of morphological properties of seeds, fruits and leaves identified significant differences between all the studied phenotypes. Buža vodnjanska ženska has the largest, and Buža minuda (‘Buža of a small fruit’) the tiniest fruit. Buža puntoža (‘Buža with a mucron’) has the highest fruit length/width.
