Sažetak

By its importance, potato is the third plant culture in Croatia, however, the production is still extensive. It can be seen by the crops realized, total areas planted with this plant, production equipment and storage of such an important culture.
For a safe and stable production several factors need to be combined:
- the soil should be well prepared for planting
- only healthy planting material should be used
- adequate mechanization for planting, cultivation and digging should be used
- suffiecient number of storehouses with dorada equipment should be ensured.
Potato is one of the rare cultures that can be used even if it is damaged or has started to decay – in the spirit or starch industry. Its role in nourishment of people and cattle, as well as in the industrial processing (crisps, puree, croquettes, flour etc.) is very big.
