Modern technologies of strawberry growing

Sažetak

Strawberries as a fruit sort occupy a central position in the group of
strawberrylike fruit and that, from an economic point of view, is very significant for Croatian agriculture.
Because of the quality of its fruits, early ripening, good market value,
multiply purpose of consumption and high value of gross products per surface unit, strawberry as a fruit sort is very interesting to the potential commercial producers, and at the same time it is and will be a permanent sort grown in house gardens.
Strawberries are above all very tasty, and by their high content of antioxidants (vitamin C, antocinanin, flavonols, ets.) and by their small energetic value, they become more and more popular in the nourishment of the population of developed countries throughout the year. In Croatia commercial production of strawberries has been neglected so far due to numerous conditions, particularly these:
- the need for highly educated strawberry producers
- non-organized production of healthy seedling material
- the need for big financial investments in plantations
- sensitivity of fruits during the picking and transport
