Sažetak

In poultry production technology much attention is paid to feeding watering and poultry unit ventilation whereas litter has been neglected. However, microclimate and,generally, conditions of poultry keeping, health and production results are greatly affected by the litter. Various materials having different traits and effects on poultry production and health can be used as litter. Infectious and parasitic diseases as well as diseases of extremitis, thorax callus and sores including poultry production decrease may be caused by not adequate litter. Diverse physical, chemical and biological procedures can be applied for litter conditioning.
