Sažetak

Motivation for education within the field of occupational safety is one of the key factors in the education process. In the research we used surveys to collect data and analyse the educational practises, motives and opinions among occupational safety professionals (N = 388). It was found that professionals mostly receive and improve their education by attending seminars, conferences, symposiums and workshops, on average of three times a year. With regard to the active types of education, those most frequently used are study of professional literature and discussion with colleagues. In 2013, 82% of respondents stated that the official Regulations governing permanent professional education of occupational safety professionals from 2011 did not fulfil the desired purpose i.e. to increase their interest in education. Evaluation of the motivation origin revealed that 3.8% of respondents were intrinsically motivated, 91.6% were extrinsically motivated, and 4.6% were not interested at all in the occupational safety education. Initially, i.e. immediately after introduction, the impact of the Regulations on the educational motivation of occupational safety professionals was positive. However, there is an evident need for further substantial corrections of the text.
