THE INFLUENCE OF THE MASS-MEDIA ON SOCIALIZATION

Sažetak
The processes of socialization, especially among the young, do not take place anymore only in traditional institutions (family, school and Church), since this function was taken by the media. The process of socialization is therefore less institutional, and does not respect the logic of gradualism adequate to the age, i.e. the capability of apprehension peculiar to an age. Faced with many choices supplied by the new media, a person is left to choose freely by himself. Everyone involved in education, especially the institutions, must get acquainted with these changes, with the new accents in the processes of socialization, as well as with the possibilities for the education which are given by the new media. The mastering of media competences will help to develop a correct relationship towards the world of media and the development of better processes of socialization in the media environment.
