THIRTY YEARS OF THE RADOVI JOURNAL OF THE INSTITUTE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK OF THE CROATIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ARTS IN VARAŽDIN (1986-2015)

Sažetak
The Institute for Scientific Research Work of the Croatian Academy in Varaždin
started its publishing activities in 1986 when it issued the first number of the Radovi
journal (Eng. Papers). The Institute’s director, academician Andre Mohorovinčić, put
it into words in the best possible way: “The first issue of the Radovi for Scientific Research
Work of the Research Centre of the Yugoslav Academy in Varaždin represents
a contribution to the positive joint decision of the Jugoslav Academy and Varaždin
Town Council to found the Institute for Scientific Research Work in Varaždin in order
to stimulate the research of various problems in the field of natural and social sciences,
arts and culture, concerning the territory of the northern part of Croatia.”
In the last thirty years, twenty-six issues of the Radovi journal have been published
comprising over seven thousand pages dealing with multidisciplinary texts on
Varaždin and north-west Croatia. More than two hundred authors have prepared over
four hundred articles that address almost all fields of sciences and arts.
Being led by the principles determined by the long-time editor of the journal and
first director of the Institute, academician Andre Mohorovinčić, the Institute became
the focal point of scientific meetings and research activities in the north-west part of
Croatia.
This contributed to the fact that the Institute with its Radovi edition, including also
other publications, has spread throughout Croatia and also Slovenia, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It also connects researchers from the USA, New Zealand, Germany,
England, and Austria on an individual level.
Today, the Radovi journal is cited at renowned scientific portals as for example: Hrvatska
bibliografija, Niz C, Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the online archive
of Central and Eastern European Online Library (CEEOL), Ulrichs Web Global Serials
Directory (ULRICH), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and since the issue no.
26/2015 the magazine has been cited in the eminent publication: European Reference
Index for the Humanities and Social sciences (ERIH Plus).
