THE LEGACY OF THE CSIKOS FAMILY IN THE STROSSMAYER GALLERY OF OLD MASTERS OF THE CROATIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ARTS

Julije Čikos Sesia, son of the great Croatian painter Bela
Csikos Sesia, also trained as an artist, donated to the Strossmayer
Gallery of Old Masers four hundred of his father’s artworks
and eight sketchbooks.
After his death his widow Marijana donated to the Gallery
several hundred documents and photographs related to the
career of her late father-in-law and the family history of
several generations of the Csikos family. While in my training
period in the establishment, I drew up a complete list of the
materials from these documents, previously never processed,
classified them, including the identification of individual documents,
which I then described.
This paper describes the circumstances of the original donation,
after which comes a review of the processing and the
actual contents of the documentary part of the bequest.
