Semiconductor detectors of ionizing radiation

Sažetak

Fast recent development of diode and transistor semiconductor detectors is briefly dealt with. A survey is given of the basic principles of work and of the most important characteristics of these detectors with special regard to their energy discrimination and potential position sensitivity. Comparison is made with gas and scintillation detectors. Some technical compromises in design are mentioned and at the end the most significant possibilities of application presented.
