Abstracts There exist a relatively large number of factors determining the usability of a certain database. Since there are many scientific databases, it is necessary to analyze some of their characteristics in order to determine which of them play the determining role in the selection process. The present paper analyzes the characteristics of the Scopus database relative to user requirements and explains its advantages and specifics features. Also, the representability of scientific publications can be determined with fairly good accuracy. Scopus has been used to generate a representation of the presence of the Polimeri journal in the international scientific arena.
