Abstracts
Spastic effect of barite, barium sulphate and barium ions dust on smooth muscles of isolated frog's lungs was studied after pleural and alveolar application. It was found that transmural electrical stimulation of the lungs following pleural application of the above substances regularly causes increased tonus and induces contractions. After alveolar application of the suspension of these substances the spastic reaction was recorded in about 1 out of 5 experiments.
