Sažetak

According to their geographically position, Europe and areas where Arab world was constituted, are practically directed to each other. This geographical interrelation for thousands of years now, was stimulating for the flow of people, ideas, cultural values. In the beginning of the new era, all above mentioned was also stimulating for (partially) political unification under the Roman Empire. Within this empire and through the influence of christianization, civilizational homogenization also happened. Further development led to sharp polarization between the Christian Europe and Islamic, specifically Arab world. However, civilizations can not be civilizations if they do not generate particular openness towards those who are situated outside of their settings. From that aspect, for Europe and Arab world would be exceptionally useful to find the modalities which, with keeping identity differences, could enable the highes possible level of compatibility and cooperation. In this paper we analyze which basis in terms of ideas, would be the most suitable for achieving that goal and how the present political circumstances, especially in the Arab world affects its realization.
