On-line monitoring of HV substation equipment: Myths and truths

Sažetak

This article discusses myths and truths around unrelenting challenges faced by substation owners over the past years to improve the service to the customer base, and presents a case of a utility which implemented a large-scale monitoring system involving 300 transformers, and achieved a number of transformer and bushing failure saves and capital deferrals.
