RECOMMENDATIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR THE TREATMENT OF OSTEOARTHRITIS

Sažetak
Osteoarthritis is the most prevalent joint disease, with
significant socio-medical consequences. Namely, apart
from impairing the patients’ quality of life, osteoarthritis
is associated with high direct and indirect costs. Therefore,
appropriate treatment using proven modalities is one of
the priorities in the care for OA patients. Recommendations
and guidelines are the most important components
of a successful treatment. This article presents a review of recent recommendations and guidelines established by international
and national professional bodies and organizations,
as well as of some other novelties in this area, in
order to get insight into new evidence in the treatment of
osteoarthritis.
