Sažetak
The paper analyses examples from oral literary forms and traditional culture in general, which refer to woman´s young age and premarital life in the Dalmatian hinterland. Central concept is the one of female body. The examples prove the existence of traditional cultural influences on the lives of girls/women, which is based on the patriarchal order. Traditional culture in some of its segments shows certain flexibility of the traditional system by giving women the possibility to choose. This can be recognized in more recent oral literature and in some forms of premarital life.
