Sažetak

Nodular, relatively well-circumscribed, smooth-border lesions are frequent findings during the routine chest radiograph examination of the thoracic organs. The permanent task of the radiologists is to differentiate a benign lesion from a malignant one as soon and as accurately as possible. The characteristics of the lesions (nodule form, nodule size, growth rate, margin characteristics, and calcification pattern etc.) are being assessed by specific sequence of radiological tests. In spite of all radiologists' effort, one part of the lesions must be assessed by means of invasive diagnostic examinations with the purpose of acquiring tissue specimen for further pathologic, cytological, microbiologic and other analysis. The right choice of examination will be rewarded with fast, accurate and the least expensive diagnosis.
