OSPF WITHIN THE SWITCH NETWORKS

Sažetak
Routing protocols are used by routers or higherlevel
switch interconnection. The most used
protocols are the following: Routing Information
Protocol (RIP), Interior Gateway Routing Protocol
(IGRP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF),
Intermediate System to Intermediate System
(IS-IS), and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).
Some of them are used as internal, while some of
them are used as external for connecting to the
Internet autonomous systems. One of the most
used connection status routing protocols is the
Open Shortest Path First (OSPF). The advantage
of this protocol is a high speed of the connection
recovery and low network traffic.
This paper demonstrates the application of
protocols in switched networks. A practical
solution is shown for enhancement of the existing
data and communication network into one unique
system with redundant connections between
locations. Instead of using the routing protocols
that are related to one producer, this example
shows a possibility of the system upgrade and
adding different network segments of other
producers.
A conclusion can be reached that the use of
OSPF protocols provides great advantage as
opposed to other connection status protocols and
distance vector protocols.
