Sažetak Conflicts in communication between students and teachers in the last few years are increasingly common, and more and more professionals of different profiles are involved in researching the educational practice. There are numerous reasons why conflicts arise in school and among them are the conflicts that result from poor communication that affect student motivation and their relationship towards the mastering of the school assignments. The specificity of the educational work is based on the quality of the established relationship between the teacher and the student, the student and the student, the teacher and the teaching content, the student and the teaching content the interaction among them. The aim of the research was to examine the attitudes and the perception of teachers and students of primary school toward the teacher-student relationship, the relationship of teachers and students towards the teaching content and towards relationships among students. Data suggests good communication and relationships between fourth-grade students and teachers, and both groups notice that teachers know how to solve them. The students experience and assess the teacher-teaching content relationship slightly negatively, suggesting that more motivated students require more stimulating learning methods and various sources of knowledge in teaching. Their need can be reflected in relationships and lead to conflict in the student-teacher communication. According to the results of the study of the student-student relations both the students and the teachers state that the positive relations between the students prevail and that the students are trying to solve their mutual conflicts independently. The study included 396 fourth-grade students and 158 primary school teachers from Osijek-Baranja, Požega-Slavonia and Virovitica-Podravina counties.
