Sažetak
This paper describes the way in which an
online English spelling quiz was developed
by using a number of up-to-date programming
technologies. The application was developed
in order to help foreign learners of English to
master their knowledge of spelling in the English
language. The English language spelling is not
phonological, there are many rules, but also many
exceptions to the rules, which makes it very
difficult for a foreign speaker of English to learn
it. Taking a quiz, the user can check their spelling
knowledge, but also expand their vocabulary.
The quiz is dynamic, instructive, entertaining
and motivating. It is a part of the LEO (Learning
English Online) project, which was initiated at the
Zagreb University of Applied Sciences in 2010.
