Sažetak

The new Law on Postal Services continues the harmonisation of this field with the European acquis communautaire. Important legislative and other aspects that influence liberalisation of the postal sector and development of the common European market in Croatia and the European Union are analysed. Croatian Post, as a public operator, has to fulfil all of its legal obligations so that the process of liberalisation could achieve the expected results, designed by the Strategy and Action Plan. Croatian Post and Electronic Communications Agency, as an independent national regulatory body, has a decisive role in regulation and professional supervision of the postal sector. Other providers of postal services in Croatia are analysed, as well as their position on the market, which is to be completely liberalised as of 1 January 2013, both in Croatia and in the European Union.
