Sažetak

The role of nutrition and possible causal relationship
attributed to the certain individual nutrients and their
impact on the risk for development of cardiovascular diseases
has been discussed. Criteria for evaluation and treatment of
high blood cholesterol regarding the use of dietotherapy
and/or farmacotherapy are specified. Consideration of specific
effects of total fat intake and types of fatty acids on lipids were
explored. The goals of a heart - healthy diet aiming at obtaining
or maintaining healthy lipid levels are considered through
the heart healthy diet and physical activity recommendations.
