THE GESTURE OF BLESSING AS THE FIGURE OF CHRIST

Sažetak
The illuminations on the margins of the Lord's Prayer in the Croatian Glagolitic missal are late indicators of Cyril's philosophical and artistic attempts to make a Glagolitic script out of the figure of Christ Pantocrator making a gesture of blessing and his aura which pictorially identifies the figure of Christ: it is the symbol of light and Christ's monogram. In addition these miniatures powerfully show to us the importance of the synchronism of literature, art, philosophy, theology and graphics in the life of the Holy Brothers and during their acts of Christianizing the Slavs. That synchronism is a kind of interdisciplinary verification of anoutstanding mind, of the interests and creative spirit of the Holy Brothers and especially of Constantine Cyril the Philosopher. They established the Christian culture of the Slavs in every essential aspect and marked it with the sign of light and with the name of Christ.
