Sažetak
This paper analyses the life and work of Antun Sović with a special reference to his translation of the Old Testament. Although Sovićʼs published and unpublished manuscripts, as well as the critiques of his translation of the Old Testament are well known, so far there has been no mention of Stjepan Ivšić who described Sovićʼs translation on all language levels. The aim of this paper is to provide a contribution to Croatian philology and theology by bringing to light unknown facts about Sovićʼs philological and theological work, as well as to point to the historico-linguistic reality of the pre-Banate period, a time texts about the particularities of the Croatian language begin to emerge.
