CONTEMPORARY TECHNOLOGIES OF EXPLOITATION OF DIMENSION STONE

Sažetak

Exploitation of dimension stone is from the professional point of view a very sensitive and demanding activity. Thanks to the very high prices that this mineral raw material achieves in the world market, it has proven to be cost-efficient to transport the dimension stone to the farthest markets (Chinese, American ...). Consequently, all the mining business entities involved in the exploitation of dimension stones operate in the global market and necessarily must adapt to it.
Trends in the global market have shown that the share of labour costs in relation to the total cost constantly decreases, which is the result of application of the latest technical and technological achievements.
This paper portrays a brief historical review of the development of the methods of exploitation of the dimension stone.
The emphasis is on contemporary, modern methods of exploitation which apply the latest technical and technological achievements.
