Sažetak

Firefighters, members of the USAR Team, are exposed to extreme physical and psychological strain. The psychological stress that firefighters experience during a rescue operation from the ruins has a negative effect on firefighters during the rescue of the injured, and can also cause severe psychological stress that manifests after the completion of rescue operations. There are various sources of psychological stress characteristic for rescue operations from ruins, as well as specific sources of stress related to the engagement of the Team as part of international assistance following major disasters and disasters. To prevent stress and mitigate the effects of stress on the Rescue from the ruins Team, firefighters need to be mentally prepared for the high stress and potential traumatic situations during a rescue actions from the ruins. Psychological preparation is conducted at a strategic, tactical and operational level, and is conducted by a psychologist in collaboration with fire commanders. Continuously training of the Rescue from the ruins Team and practicing of different procedures via exercises are extremely important. Firefighters who are members of the Rescue from the ruins Team should have a high level of cognitive ability, emotional stability and high stress resistance, so it is extremely important to make the psychological choice of choosing to join the Rescue from the ruins Team.
