Sažetak

Viral diseases represent an economic risk everywhere in the world where cucurbits are grown, and can cause high losses in cucurbit production. The most important viruses on cucurbits in the world are Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), Zucchini yellow mosaic virus (ZYMV), Watermelon mosaic virus (WMV) and Squash mosaic virus (SqMV). In Croatia, viral diseases on cucurbits are poorly investigated despite their growing significance in cucurbit production. The most important viruses on cucurbits are described in the article, with brief description of symptoms they cause, the way they spread and the means for their control.
