Sažetak

European cartography sources continuously provided data about Ptuj throughout the 16th century, and there are no maps that would present the area of Styria along river Drava that would not have Ptuj marked in them, and in majority of cases Maribor and Ormož as well. Ptuj (along with surrounding towns) was most frequently marked in maps printed in 13 cities in the area of Germany (Nürnberg, Ingolstadt, Köln, Augsburg, Frankfurt am Main and Strasbourg, as well as in maps printed in Italy (Rome, Venice), the Netherlands (Amsterdam, Antwerpen), Switzerland (Basel, Zürich) and Austria (Vienna). Besides those maps, there are also several hand drawn maps that are preserved in Vienna, Karlsruhe and Dresden. According to the current state of research, Ptuj is present in more than 70 cartography sources dating from the 16th century, and this number is by no means final. Maribor is not so frequently marked, and Ormož even less. Some surrounding settlements are occasionally marked as well. Information from maps about Ptuj, Maribor and Ormož in the 16th century is very limited since the maps provided only the most basic data. The frequency of appearance of Ptuj, Maribor and Ormož corresponds to their relevance at that particular time. In this paper the author also to a somewhat limited extent attempted to research the possibility of establishing changes in the environment, especially in relation town-river, for example through construction of bridges and meandering of river Drava.
