Summary Inventory of the Fonds of the Local People’s Committee of Bašanija 1947 – 1952

Sažetak
The Local People’s Committee of Bašanija operated from 1947 to 1952 as an administrative body of local character and directly subordinated to the People’s Committee of the Buje District (1945-1955). It was succeeded by the People’s Committee of the Town Municipality of Umag (1952-1955), which began its work in 1952 with the founding of the Town Municipality of Umag and whose territorial jurisdiction covered the area of the abolished creator. The activities of the Local People’s Committee of Bašanija were especially related to the implementation of the agricultural plan, care for the material and cultural progress of the place, pursuit of municipal duties, promotion of crafts and industry and mediation in the process of exchanging goods between the town and the villages. The President and the Secretary of the People’s Committee were in charge of managing the administration and executing its decisions. Other officials were given tasks as needed by the President and the Secretary, to whom they were accountable for their work. After the cessation of the activities of the creator, the archives of the Fonds were stored in the archives of the Municipal Assembly of Buje, from where, together with the material of related creators, it was taken over by the Historical Archives of Pazin (today’s State Archives in Pazin) in 1977. The arranging and making of a summary inventory was completed in 2012. The archives is arranged in accordance with the content-functional model of arrangement, however preserving the original order. The units “General files by number” and “Confidential files” were left as separate series, while at the lower level the archives were arranged in accordance with the content-thematic issues.
