Sažetak

Advances in technology and communication have changed our way of life and work so that working away from the employer's premises has become a widespread model all over Europe.
Examples of such work are: working from home (various administrative jobs, writing, text editing, proofreading, etc.), working away from the employer's premises (travelling salesmen, repair servicemen, sales representatives, etc.).
As part of the COVID-19 measures requiring physical distancing, in most member states workers are encouraged or ordered to work from home if the nature of their work allows it. Most of these workers experience working from home for the first time, often meaning that their work environment is very likely unsuitable in comparison to their workplace.
The current situation and, especially, the future developments in the world of work indicate a need to harmonize the Labour Act provisions with this new trend, as well as those in the scope of safety at work.
Details pertaining to this type of work should be very precisely stipulated in collective agreements, in internal company rules, and in the contracts between the employer and the worker before the onset of work, with the possibility of an annex to the contract, if need be, drafted during employment should the conditions and circumstances change.
