Sažetak

The role of geoinformation is every day bigger but their efficient appliance requires clear description. According to ISO/TC 211 the Technical Committee TO211 Geoinformation/Geomatics was established in January 2003 at The State Office for Standardization and Metrology. With that establishment, Croatia became involved in a process of standardization in the field of geoinformation. In this paper an overview of ISO 19115 Metadata Standard is given. This standard has been adopted in April 2004 as a Croatian Standard and its content and appliance will be of great importance especially for spatial data users.
