Sažetak
The aim of this paper is to present all the activities of the Public Library "Ivan Goran Kovačić" Karlovac that take place continuously outside the main building of the library, when librarians participate in cultural events and implement programs that were in the past often reserved for library space. The paper is based on the promotional film of the Public Library "Ivan Goran Kovačić" Karlovac, which was included in the program of the first library film festival at the 12th Conference for Public libraries in the Republic of Croatia held from 2nd to 4th October 2019 in Plitvice Lakes. The paper presents programs that took place in the spring and summer of 2019 and they are: library on the beach, participation in the city of Karlovac birthday program, Spring promenade, outdoor exercise and Trdin's literary march. They were held at the following locations: Foginovo city beach, Karlovac's Zvijezda, Karlovac city center, Kupa river, Old Town Dubovac and Sveta Gera. For the purposes of this paper, examples from Slovenia library programs were also researched. The role of libraries changes over time and is constantly redefined so libraries must adapt their services to the needs of society and the local community. This paper is trying to present all the services of the Karlovac library which should contribute to the popularization of library outdoor programs and activities.
