Sažetak

The present articel reviews the problems of informatization in Slovenia.
The process of informatisation has been developed as a grassroot movement at
the beginning. In certain areas, such as mobile telephony, Slovenia is near the
top. On the other hand, the telecommunications services market has not been
liberalised and data transfer networks have not been interconnected; the prices
for services are therefore high. Such obstacles to development slow down the
country's progress towards information society.
The author concludes that Slovenia cannot yet be regarded as an information
society, although some relatively favourable indicators of the degree of informatization
have been noticed. The conclusion offers some guidelines for
possible scenarios of Slovenia’s informatization, taking into account that a
successful transition from the industrial to the informational mode of development
requires a synergy of the modernist territorial infrastructure planning,
the informational elites’ profit-oriented tendencies, and the innovative potential
of cyber (sub)cultures.
