The author analyzes the transport of extraordinary cargo in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia and possible implications for the safe conduct of traffic and the safety of other road users. The transport of such cargo is a very complex process that is legally regulated by numerous restrictions and specifics, and is financially more expensive than everyday transport. [1] In civil traffic, a freight forwarder plays a very important role in the transport of extraordinary cargo. The freight forwarder, as the person responsible for transport from one place to another, must coordinate operations between all participants in the transport - consignor, consignee and carrier, insurer of goods, customs, inspection services; and must control the consignment on the entire transport route. He must also have a transport permit, although it is not required for the transport of such cargo in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, in accordance with the provisions of The Road Transport Act. The paper presents the specifics of extraordinary cargo transport, the comparison of civil and military traffic and analyzes the rules and regulations governing such transport, marking and cargo escort. For the safety of other traffic participants, as well as for the safety of transport, the key role is played by the escort in the direction of movement, performed by authorized officials or members of the Military Police alone or in cooperation with police officers of the Ministry of Interior.
