Sažetak

At the beginning of the seventeenth century a new type of theatre building began to be built in Europe and in Croatia, the public theatre. Starting from the Renaissance theatre which used adapted halls, baroque theatre architecture in Croatia resulted from a series of social, theatrological and architectural demands. The text analyzes and reconstructs specific examples (in Hvar, Dubrovnik, Zadar, Trogir, Split, Rijeka, Zagreb and Osijek) as far as is possible on the basis of knowledge to date, and presents the general characteristics of the baroque theatre building.
