Sažetak

In this paper is considered problem of job insecurity from the sociological theory approach. According to occupational role concept, Jacobson defines job insecurity as a cognitive appraisal of present possibility about job losing threat in the changing work environment, based on interaction between the perceived probability of losing one’s job and the percieved security that this will not happened. Further is suggested a model with six factors that increase job insecurity in Croatia. These are: globalization, macroeconomic processes, transition, informatization, war and the consequences of war and sociocultural factors, but emphasize is on the global economy and its consequences to the job security. In addition are presented results from one research about the job security importance among different sociodemografic groups on the representative public opinion sample.
