The Housing Problems of the Elderly and the Promotion Possibilities for New Strategies

Sažetak
The article analyzes the housing care of the elderly. The problem of housing are a basic human need. The housing career of a family is connected with the demographic factors. The aging of the population and an increasing number of elderly households have an impact on the housing market. The author provides the experience of the developed countries in the region. It is evident that these states encourage more and more the private nonprofit sector and commercial organizations in this area. In the housing care policy of the elderly, the concept of a „welfare mix“ is very much in evidence. Croatia is faces with the increased problems of the elderly. Legislation and policy nowadays favour the government programmes. The rationality and efficacy of these programmes are not made. New strategies are limited with lack of regulations, inadequate government policy, financial problems and insufficient entrepreneurship in the social policy.
